For this custom Shopify theme, I developed a bespoke feature that allows users to purchase books from external retailers (e.g., Amazon, Apple Books, Barnes & Noble). This enhancement was built using Shopify’s custom metafields, Liquid, and jQuery, and integrated seamlessly into the product pages.
Key Contributions:
- External Purchase Options: Enabled product-level links to third-party retailers, improving accessibility and increasing potential sales channels.
- Custom Metafields: Utilized Shopify metafields to make external URLs easily manageable for the client within the admin interface.
- Dynamic Front-End Behavior: Used jQuery to toggle and display retailer options in a user-friendly format, preserving the site’s visual consistency and UX.
This project demonstrates my ability to extend Shopify’s core capabilities with custom Liquid logic and front-end interactivity tailored to client needs.
